TACKLING RABIES TOGETHER: A UNITED FRONT FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH

TACKLING RABIES TOGETHER: A UNITED FRONT FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH

On September 28, 2025, Ketu North Municipal Celebrated World Rabies Day under the theme, “All for 1, One Health for All,” to raise awareness about rabies prevention and champion responsible pet ownership. Through targeted sensitization sessions at schools like Nunya Academy and Dzodze Fiagbedu R.C. Primary, pupils learned crucial facts about the causes, transmission, and prevention of rabies, emphasizing the need for regular pet vaccination and immediate reporting of animal bites.

Our Municipal Veterinary officers and Agricultural Extension Agents (AEAs) conducted extensive community outreach, engaging over 500 residents in the Dzodze township and church congregations on pet safety and necessary post-bite steps. This broad educational effort, supported by the distribution of materials, successfully boosted community awareness and interest in pet vaccination, marking a significant step toward eliminating human rabies deaths in the municipality.
