Pursuant to Section 10(b) of the Local Government Act (Urban, Zonal and Town Council and Unit Committee) (Establishment) Instrument, 2010, L.I. 1967, Zonal Councils are mandated to operate a rotational tenure for Unit Committee Members. In line with this provision, the Ketu North Municipal Assembly has inaugurated the 2026 batch of Councilors for the Dzodze, Penyi, Weta, and Afife Zonal Councils. The ceremonies were held on Tuesday, 28th April and Tuesday, 5th May 2026 at the respective Zonal Council premises.

Across all four zones, five (5) permanent elected Assembly Members and ten (10) Unit Committee Members were sworn in to serve as Councilors for the 2026/27 session.

The event was graced by the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Rev. Martin Amenaki; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Bernard K.P. Sakyiama; and officials of the Municipal Electoral Commission.

He reminded them that their tenure is rotational and limited to one year, urging them to give their utmost in managing the affairs of their councils. He further stressed that the Assembly’s effectiveness depends on vibrant and functional sub-structures, calling on the Councilors to actively support the developmental agenda of the Municipality.
