The Ketu North Municipal Assembly, through the Honourable MCE Rev. Martin Amenaki,Technical Sub-Committee and Spatial Planning Committee had an engagement with Torgbui Avorkliya V and the opinion leaders of Kuli to discuss matters concerning the preparation and implementation of the Kuli Newtown Local Plan.
The engagement formed part of efforts by the Assembly to ensure that local stakeholders are adequately informed and actively involved in the spatial planning and development of the area.
The main objectives of the engagement were to: Brief the Chief and opinion leaders on the Kuli Newtown Local Plan, explain the importance of the Local Plan in guiding the orderly development of Kuli Newtown, Obtain the views, concerns and suggestions of traditional authorities and other key stakeholders, promote collaboration between the Assembly and the community in the implementation of the plan, and encourage community support for proper land-use planning and development control.
The meeting began with introductions and an explanation of the purpose of the engagement. The Head of the Physical Planning Department, Mr. Samuel K. Pensang provided an overview of the Kuli Newtown Local Plan, highlighting the need for proper planning to guide future development and prevent haphazard construction.
He also highlighted the importance of reserving spaces for roads, schools, health facilities, recreational areas, drainage systems and other public facilities was also discussed. The stakeholders were informed that adherence to the approved planning arrangements would contribute to the orderly growth and sustainable development of the community.
The engagement with the Chief and opinion leaders of Kuli was fruitful and provided a platform for constructive discussion on the Kuli Newtown Local Plan. The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between the Municipal Assembly, traditional authorities, landowners and residents in achieving orderly and sustainable development.
The Assembly will continue to engage relevant stakeholders and work closely with the traditional leadership to facilitate the effective implementation of the Local Plan.
