The Municipal Assembly has started a desilting exercise to clear choked gutters in Dzodze.
The General clean up exercise was organized to desilt main gutters and drains in the Ketu North Municipal Assembly’s capital Dzodze township which aimed at ensuring that the drains and gutters within the town are free to allow easy flow of water to prevent floods which have the tendency to destroy lives, properties and livelihoods.
The exercise started from St. Anthony’s Hospital gate to Dzodze-Akatsi Road roundabout on 30th June, 2023, 7th and 8th July, 2023. The youths (motor riders) also desilted the gutters from main market gate opposite Akatsi Store to Denu station opposite Dzodze Police station with some Zoomlion workers which was monitored and supervised by Environmental Health Officers.
The desilting which began two weeks ago was also to control the free flow of water in the drainages and reduce the flooding that occurred any time there were heavy downpours.
