On Friday 25th July 2025, the leadership of the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, led by the honourable Municipal Chief Executive-Reverend Martin Amenaki and supported by the Municipal Coordinating Director – Mr. Jasper Adenyo and other staff of the Assembly, engaged in a strategic dialogue with the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Denu. The meeting was aimed at enhancing inter-agency collaboration and addressing key utility service concerns affecting residents of the Municipality.
Key matters discussed include Strengthening Inter-Agency Collaboration, the Municipal Coordinating Director highlighted that the Assembly is currently being assessed on its capacity to collaborate effectively with sector agencies such as ECG. He urged the management of ECG to honour invitations from the Assembly to inter-sectorial meetings and respond to our request.
The Assembly proposed that the acquisition of ECG meters within Ketu North should be contingent upon the issuance of a valid building permit from the Municipal Assembly. This regulatory measure is aimed at promoting orderly development and ensuring infrastructure compliance and increasing the revenue base of the Assembly.
Concerns were raised about the need for ECG to fully capture the Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP) meters within its billing system. This integration is vital to prevent the accumulation of high bills and to avoid the unwarranted removal of these meters from households.
This engagement underscores the Assembly’s commitment to proactive governance, improved public service delivery, and community-focused partnerships.
