Post- harvest loss have been one of the main challenges with food security in the Municipality and the nation as a whole. As a way of assessing the extent of loss the Agriculture Director, Lovelace Kudoto together with Amevor Daniel (Agric. M.I.S. Officer), Prosper Bakudie (Extension Officer) and Joana Maku Ayim (Agricultural Engineer) were at the rice drying floors at Avalavi, Klenormadi and Lave to witness the state of the drying platforms in the wake of erratic rainfalls.
The observation made by the team revealed the inadequacy of drying floors for the farmers, this has resulted in the use of tarpaulins, most of which were torn. The farmers appealed to the team get in touch with the necessary stakeholders to see how best they can come to their aid with concrete drying floors and adequate tarpaulins to mitigate the challenge. The team advised the farmers to try and get more tarpaulins as a temporary measure as they also get in touch with relevant the stakeholders to address the challenge.
