Ketu North Municipal Assembly as a beneficiary of the Ghana Smart SDG Cities Programme aimed to accelerate attainment of sustainable urban growth aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its administrative capital, Dzodze. This initiative as part of broader efforts towards the achievement of the objectives embedded in the workplan for the implementation of the programme, Transport Unions operating within the jurisdiction of the municipality were engaged by the Assembly to solicit their inputs to address urban challenges including traffic congestion in the Central Business District (CBD) of Dzodze. This stakeholder consultation is envisioned to foster ownership, public participation to promote collaboration, build trust, and facilitates the effective and sustainable execution of the initiative ultimately contributing to the urban development goals of the programme while ensuring that transport unions’ concerns and suggestions are integrated into planning and decision-making processes.
