The Department of Agric. led by the Director embarked on sensitization sessions to educate and demonstrate to farmers to the usage of the bag. Communities visited with the message includes Ehi, Klenormadi, Penyi, Ohawu and Dekpor . PICS bag one of the types of hematic bag, also known as airtight bags, are specialized storage containers designed to create a sealed environment that prevents the entry of air, moisture, and pests. The Director of Agric. entreated the farmers to adopt the use of the bag since it has the potential of preserving the grains and also do not require the use of chemicals in the control of the insect pest.
Mr. Bakudie the Extension officer advised the farmers to avoid placing the bagged grains on the bare floor but rather on pallets. The farmers were concerned on the cost and availability of the PICS bag but the Extension Officer assured them that there is enough at some Agro inputs shop at Avalavi
