The department with help of Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) was able to commence the data collection process for the data hub creation. The data gathered span from 2015 to 2023. The data will be updated annually. The agencies involve in producing these statistics are Agric, education, health, police, birth and death, forestry, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Urban roads, Social Welfare, Budget, Environmental health, and Business Advisory Center (BAC).
The department collected and updated database internally and uploaded the data to national database. The national update came to a close on the 17th December,2023 to allow HQ prepare for a report for publishing in the 1st quarter of 2024. The department also undertook data validation exercise with all the stakeholders by sitting them down and going through the data with the various agencies that provided the data one by one to affirm data quality that has no discrepancies. The purpose for this data validation exercise was ensure that when the data provided is published there will be no qualms. The Assembly’s average completion for the year is 66.47 percent.
Training and Publicity
The department went for a four-day training at Ho organized by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on the theme ‘ZONAL TRAINING ON ADMIATRATIVE DATA VALIDATION FOR MMDAs’.
The Department also trained four unit/departments on data gathering process. The training was done for Birth and Death office on how to populate the template given its office to reduce and enhance the administrative data collection process and foster the creation of the data hub. Also, a proper recording data format for Business registration was developed for BAC and Records Unit to properly record new business registration in the Assembly to help in an easy accounting of new business registration in the Assembly since is a requirement in the monitoring indicators. Officers were trained on the format and how to record the information in the recording book. A recording book was procured for the records unit to record separately Business Registration letters from other letters. A short training exercise was done for the officers and how to use the books. The below shows the trained unit/department in the quarter under review. The Ghana Police Service was also trained on how to populate the administrative data template to enhance harmonization of data.
