The Department works in partnership with people in their communities to improve their social well-being through promoting development with equity for the disadvantaged, vulnerable and the excluded. The department:
- Facilitates community-based rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
- Assists and facilitates provision of community care services.
- Assists to maintain specialized residential services in the Municipality.
- Facilitates the registration and supervision of non-governmental organizations and their activities in the Municipality;
- Assists to organize community development programmes to improve and enrich rural life.
