Training for Agric. staff on the Ghana Agriculture and Agribusiness Platform (GhAAP) under the PFJ Phase 2 at the Agric. office on 22/2/2024. The staff were taken through theoretical and practical session to abreast themselves with the pending National assignment on farmer registration. The training session had National and Regional monitoring team members present to facilitate the process. It is expected that after the training, Agric. Extension Agents together with their supervisors will go to the field and register farmers and their farms in order to build the database of farmers in the Municipality and also to enable smooth selection of qualified farmers to partake in the PFJ Phase 2 Programme.
Background of PFJ Phase 2
The PFJ 2.0 is modeled to address the challenges to ensure that the KEY objectives are met, which are:
- Ensure food availability,
- Promote import substitution,
- Promote food export,
- Job creation
- Ensure food security and resilience.
It is a five-year programme anchored on four main principles:
- Value chain-driven.

- Inclusivity (women and youth)
The PFJ 2.0 will move away from direct input subsidy to smart agricultural credit. Key elements include:
- Credit System
- Quality Fertilizer
- Improved Seeds
- Support Services
- Secured Credit
- Storage and Distribution Infrastructure
- Off-taker arrangements/Commodity trading – to guarantee market and stabilize prices
- Digital Agricultural and Agribusiness Platform
- Line of sight management, monitoring, and coordination.
