The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the Ketu North Municipal has prosecuted Mr. Francis Kwaku Dzaka for engaging in unlawful noxious rearing of cattle in the residential area.
He was accordingly charged with three (3) offenses.
- 1. Unlawfully engaging in the Noxious trade of rearing cattle within the residential area. (Contrary to section 54 of the Public Health Act,2012(Act 851).
- 2. Non Compliance with abatement notice. (Contrary to section 1.1-2.1 of Ketu North Municipal Assembly (Abatement of Nuisance) Byelaws, 2010).
- 3. Willfully allowing your cattle to stray. (Contrary to section 300 of Criminal Offences (as amended), Act 1960(Act 29).
The accused was arraigned before the District Magistrate Court – Dzodze presided over by your lordship Nelson Delasi Awuku ESQ on 13th July 2022.
The accused person – Francis Kwaku Dzaka pleaded not guilty to charges level against him and the case traveled over a year.
After the proceedings, the honorable Court pronounced judgment on 19th September 2023 and fined the accused person Seventy (70) penalty units as a first timer also with the compensation of Gh₵500.00 to be paid to the Ketu North Municipal Assembly and ordered the accused person to relocate within one (1) month with the supervision of Environmental Health and Sanitation Officer in default three months imprisonment.
