The Ghana Statistical Service release the report on the multidimensional poverty status of the Assembly from the 2021 PHC. The report highlighted that our Multidimensional poverty is 27.2% with a poverty intensity of 44.3%. Out of the 13 indicators used to calculate the multidimensional poverty index, three of indicators contributed much to our multidimensional poverty status. These are lack of improved toilet facilities for Household, lack of health insurance coverage and school lag. The municipality is placed 142nd out of the 261 districts in terms of percentage of population living in multidimensional poor household and placed 7th out of 18 districts in the region.
Note: the meaning of the above statement is about 3 of every 10 people you select in Ketu North leave in a multidimensional poverty. Thirteen indicators make up the multidimensional poverty. Out of the three who suffers the multidimensional poverty, they suffer at least four of the indicators that makes up the multidimensional poverty. Some of the indicators that contributed to our performance are;
Lack of improved toilet facilities
Low health insurance coverage (the current coverage is 61.9%)
High school dropout.
Recommendation
The department recommends to management to initiate and intensify measures that will reduce the contributing indicators (stated above) to the Assembly’s multidimensional poverty status to help reduce the level of poverty that befall it populates.
