The Ketu North Municipal Assembly in collaboration with some private individuals from Germany is embarking on massive afforestation project at Zomayi-Kpelikorfe Electoral Area.
The project currently sits on an 18 acre land with over 20,000 tick trees planted as a pilot project. It is expected to be expanded to cover 100 acre land in the coming years.
When successful, the project is expected to restore the eco-system and generate employment for the teeming youth in the Municipality.
At a brief commissioning ceremony of the afforestation project held on Saturday, 6th May, 2023 at Hayiborkorfe in the Zomayi-Kpelikorfe Electoral Area, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Avorgbedor expressed his happiness about the project and pledged the Assembly’s commitment and support to the sustenance of the project. He assured the key stakeholders present at the ceremony that the Assembly will liaise with the Forestry Commission to secure other plant spices for future expansion of the project.
Present at the ceremony were Mr. Jasper Adenyo (Municipal Coordinating Director), Yanick Noah Agboado (Assistant Director I), Emmanuel Nartey (Assistant Director IIB), Hon. Paul Atisey, Hon. Edward Seke and the lead partners of the afforestation project, Mr. Adreas Hittel and Philip Hanske.
